Donna Elaine Barker Harrell a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt gained her angel wings on Monday, May 6, 2024. She was and is an amazing person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her, because she loved unconditionally.
Donna was born in Japan on September 10, 1949 while her father was serving his country in the military. Born into a military family and moving constantly the Barker family settled in the Columbus area where Donna attended and graduated from Baker High School. Donna was married to Richmond Paul “Joe” Harrell, together Donna and Joe called the Columbus area home where they raised their two daughters, Laura and Cathy. Donna attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College. She retired after many years from United Insurance and American General Life Insurance. Donna also worked with First National Bank and was the former owner of A-1 travel Services. Donna was employed at the City of Smith Station, Alabama as clerk.
Donna’s greatest joy was her family, her pride and joy. She leaves her legacy to live in all who were blessed to know her joy, compassion, kindness and love. Donna enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was and always lived life for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her sister, Joanne (Aubrey) Carter; her daughters: Laura (Bart) LeComte and Cathy (Tim) Lowery; her very adored grandchildren: Lacey Robertson, Alyssa Kinsman, Carolan (Daven) Reid, Timothy G. (Kristian) Lowery; her very adored great grandchildren: Levi Robertson, Zayn Robertson, Alyssa Reid, Dixie Reid, Baileigh Clayton, Timothy “T.J.” Lowery; and several nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Richmond Paul “Joe” Harrell; her father, Joe F. Barker; her mother, Elwyn Barker; her stepmother, Sara Barker; her brothers: Gary A. Barker, Cecil Redmond, and Jimmy Redmond; and her sister, Robbie Delavello.
A visitation for family and friends for Donna will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Wildwood Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A Graveside Celebration of Donna's Life will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:30 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
