Donna Ratiniere Hughes

Donna Ratiniere Hughes, 65, of Columbus, died July 9, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled on Monday, July 13, 2015, 2:00pm, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, from 4:00-6:00pm.

Daughter of Gloria Ratiniere and the late Dominic Ratiniere, Mrs. Hughes was born September 28, 1949 in New Haven, Connecticut.

She was a crossing guard for the Muscogee County School District for 31 years, most of those years stationed at Double Churches. Mrs. Hughes worked for the Child Development Center at St. Mark UMC as a preschool teacher. She also cared for children in the church nursery at St. Andrew UMC and St. Mark UMC for many years. Mrs. Hughes was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved working with children and made an impact on countless lives over the years. Her laughter and joy will live on in the hearts of her friends and family for eternity.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Howard Hughes; mother, Gloria Ratiniere; two sons, Joseph Hughes (Angela) of Columbus, GA., Matthew Hughes (Kimberly Hix) of Newnan, GA.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Hix, Cassi Villers, Issac Villers; and two great grandchildren.
