

Dorothy Woodruff Bruner, 94 of Columbus, GA lovingly known to many as "Dottie Dot" passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 in her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born November 20, 1923 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Ira and Mitt Woodruff. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis Virgil Bruner. A Celebration of Her Life will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Wynnton United Methodist Church, 2412 Wynnton Road, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law Bill and Neva Bruner, daughter Ann Bruner D’Armond and her sister, Bobbie Greene, brothers: Ray Woodruff, Frederick Woodruff, Milton (Betty) Woodruff, sister in law Dianne Woodruff, six grandchildren Danielle Monroe McNair (Ben), Bo Bruner (Jennifer Nurnberg), Lisa Monroe Formaggioni (Brian), Russ Bruner (Samantha) Ben Monroe, Bonnie Bruner Stahl (Walter), 12 great grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews (16 spouses), 38 great nieces and nephews (18 spouses) and 47 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Josephine Bush (George) and brother Eugene Woodruff, sisters in law Myrtis Woodruff and Peggie Woodruff, brother in law Jim Greene.
Dot graduated from Greenville High School and attended West Georgia College. Her employment included AAFES 1944-1954 and 1971–1983, Morningside Elementary School (secretary) 1957-1965 and Hardaway High School (registrar) 1965 – 1971.
She was a member of Wynnton Methodist Church since 1958, where she was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School Class.
Following the death of her husband in 1957 she devoted her life to raising her children, service to her church, community and loving devotion to her family and friends. Her door was never locked and everyone who entered was greeted with a big hug. She had a passion for life, that included a love for sports.
She was a volunteer with Hughston Children’s Clinic, president of PTA at Clubview Elementary, Richards Junior High School and Hardaway High School. Official score keeper for Peach Little League, Den Mother with Cub Scouts, Scout Leader with Brownies/Girl Scouts, founding member of Hawkbackers at Hardaway High School, March of Dimes volunteer, score keeper for baseball and basketball at Hardaway and for city tournaments. Volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Wynnton Neighbor Network, and Relay for life- American Cancer Society, She gave 35 years of volunteer service to the Medical Center Auxiliary - John B. Amos Cancer Center.
