Edith Helen Satterwhite, 94, of Columbus Georgia died on the 10th of September 2025 at her residence in the Spring Harbor Community. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on the 26th of September 2025 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31907. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery, family only.
Mrs. Satterwhite was born June 16, 1931 in Netzschkau in Saxon Germany, near Leipzig, to the late Otto Martin Faber and Antonia Maria Rosa Junghans Faber. She was a member of the Green Island Country Club. She was a member of the Piedmont Columbus Medical Center auxiliary serving as a volunteer from 1965—2017, having accrued a total of 30,122 volunteer service hours during those over 50 years of service. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Columbus Museum, Azalea Garden Club, and River Center. She was an accomplished artist with a passion for oil painting, and her art was exhibited locally. She volunteered with the Columbus chapter of the American Heart Association. She was a retired administrator and co-owner of Satterwhite Food Service, working alongside her husband Ralph W. Satterwhite, Jr., for decades until they both retired. She and her husband Ralph W. Satterwhite, Jr., who passed on September 18, 2018, were happily married for 58 years.
Survivors include her daughter Dr. Yvonne Edith Satterwhite and son-in-law Wayne Carey and grandchildren Christopher Satterwhite Carey and Nicole Satterwhite Carey, her son Mike Ralph Satterwhite, and her stepdaughter Sherry Ann Satterwhite.
