
Edna Mae Simmons, age 87, resident of Columbus, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, July 4, 2015, 10 a.m. with James Smith officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 3, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Simmons, daughter of the late Henry Norman Smith and Carrie Lee Anderson Smith, was born April 22, 1928 in Fortson, Georgia. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Simmons; a daughter, Therisa Diane Simmons; and a brother, Joseph Douglas Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia E. Murphy and her husband Hank of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Gwendolyn L. Simmons of Columbus, and Inger A. Adams and her husband Darryl of Fortson, Georgia; one son, Keith H. Simmons and his wife Eva of Berea, Ohio; one brother, James Lee Smith and his wife Jean of McMillian, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jason, Jehvani, Natalie, Justin, and Joshua; two great-grandsons, Jason Jr., and Jude; many other relatives and friends.
