Edward Pope Murrah III

The funeral service will be held at Striffler Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd in Columbus, GA on Friday, November 13 at 3:00 PM. The Reverend Cindy Cox Garrard from St. Luke United Methodist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held an hour before the service. His remains will be interred following the service at Parkhill Cemetery.

Eddie was born in Moundsville, West Virginia on May 23, 1956. He graduated from Hardaway High School and received an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus College.

Eddie retired in 2010 after 29 years of service with the Muscogee County School District. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed the companionship of his little dachshunds, Schatzie, Sugar and Buddy.

Eddie is survived by his sister Becky Murrah Lovelace (Larry), nephews Curtis and Chase Lovelace, of Old Hickory, TN, brother in law, David Taylor of Columbus and other family and friends.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Ann Ashworth Murrah Griffin and Edward Pope Murrah, Jr. and his three sisters, Terry Murrah, Nancy Murrah, and Virginia Murrah Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to PAWs Humane Society (4900 Milgen Rd, Columbus, 31907), St. Luke United Methodist Church (1104 2nd Ave, Columbus, GA 31901) or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.org).
