Effie Wood Smith

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Evangel Temple with Rev. Paul Thomas, Rev. Watson McKemie, and Rev. Sharon Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin McCain, Kory Keys, Kody Keys, Chris Wood, and Alan Wood. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus.

Mrs. Smith was born April 23, 1926 in Holmes County, FL the daughter of the late James I. and Ila J. Davis Wood. She had lived in Columbus for the past sixty six years and had been a member of Evangel Temple since 1946. She was also a member of New Life Sunday School Class. Mrs. Smith was a seamstress for Schwobilt's, Neil's Sport Shop, and Team's Sport Supply.

Survivors include her children, Rev. Ila Sharon Smith of Columbus, Paula P. Smith of Waverly Hall, Neva Jane McCain of Waverly Hall, Lora Arlene Keys of Cumming, GA, and Stephen Earl Smith of League City, TX; one brother, R.T. Wood of Columbus; one sister, Vonnie Tate of Columbus; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
