Oh my, where do I begin. My aunt Joann was a very strong and beautiful person, she has always reminded me so much of my own mother. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

 I remember her calling me darlin, I remember calling me sweetheart. I remember her in her bathrobe always with a cup of coffee. I remember people thinking she was my mom. :-) I remember eating watermelon in the backyard. I remember her watching her hummingbirds, and shooting those "dam squirrels" with a slingshot! LoL I remember curling up next to her on the couch when I was little. I remember I could do no wrong at her house! :-) I remember a woman that loved me! :'-)

Mama, I miss you so much already. We are all trying to make sense of this, but sometimes, it just doesn't seem right. I've brought so many of your things home - your nightgown, some of the jewelry you used to wear. It's nice to have a piece of you with me, but I know nothing can ever make me feel the same. I will always remember your beautiful smile, your laugh, the way you smelled like Beautiful (even when you didn't have it on), and how no matter how old I was I could lay my head on your lap and you would play with my hair. You made my life better in so many ways. I hope one day, when I have grandchildren, I can make them feel as special as you made me feel. I love you so incredibly much. I wish so bad that I could hug you again, but I guess I will have to wait. Until that glorious day when we are all together again ...

I remember your mom always being so proud of both you Darlene & Mike.  I always remember her looking so stoic and respectable.  She was always just right, everything perfect on her and in her home.   She took so much pride in everything she did.  I always felt so welcome in her house back in high school and over the past months.  She always wanted everyone to feel welcomed and comfortable.  She was full of love that is unmistakable.

Mrs.Spires is and will always be a strong and loving woman as I remember. She always made you feel welcomed at their home. This too I see in her loving daughter, granddaughter and family. We are bonded to our parents not only by the womb, but by blood and we carry a part of them always with us in heart and soul. Mrs. Spires will be missed but will live forever in our hearts and memories as her family will carry her love and treasure her memories for generations to fallow. Mrs.Spires kind and loving heart is at peace as she looks down amongst her family with gratitude to have such a loving family. We love you all and our prayers are with you at this time of grief.

Where do I start with the memories..there is to many of them..and all of them good with mrs. Spires and all the family..I will miss her and my thoughts are with all of you.

I have been the luckiest daughter in the world.  My mother was much more than a mom, she was my best friend.  We loved being together whether it was watching her favorite old movies, putting puzzles together, playing rummy, shopping or cooking, she always made the event more special.  She could tell a story like no one else.  I remember her rubbing my arm over the last few months and telling me she was so sorry for all the pain I was going to go through.  She knew it would be hard, I couldn't even imagine how hard though.  She was such a beautiful person who loved her family.  I will miss her every day of my life.  I love you Mom!!!  Darlene

We had so much laughter together whether it was playing keno or singing songs or just talking about someboby else....we laughed and laughed!  We were serious when we needed to be and there were plenty of times for that but we were friends and that's what friends do. She was a  wonderful person and I'm glad she was a part of my life. Mike, Darlene, Billy, Amanda and David,

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to each of you during this time.   Mrs. Spires was truly an amazing woman, both strong and sensitive wrapped into one.  I'll always treasure the days spent at your house during high school and how welcome and loved she always made me feel.  I know the days ahead will be tough, but try to imagine your Mom, free of pain and reunited with your Dad and our loving Father.   May his holy peace and grace be with you always.

Amanda, David, Darlene, and Mike, I am sorry that this happened now.  I know it seemed like things were getting better, but God has a way to ease suffering.  There is a better place for all of us and she is there, preparing to receive everyone once again.  God bless you all, and take this time to pull together as she would have wanted.  They are both together again and looking down at the most important things in their lives, the things they dedicated their entire lives to, you four.
