Eugenia "Mama Jean" Smith

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Main Post Cemetery with Reverend Michael Heath officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA, The family will have a time of fellowship immediately following the service at Eastwood Baptist Church, 5051 Buena Vista Road.

Mrs. Smith was born in Sargent, GA, to the late Luther Pitts and Vassie Phillips Pitts. She was a resident of Columbus for many years and an active member of Eastwood Baptist Church where she served in the Nursery Department as Nursery Director for more than 30 years and served as WMU Director for over 32 years. She was preceded in death by her husband John S. Smith, two daughters, Tina Smith Logan and Teresa Hyatt Goff, three sisters, Erma, Wendell and Myrtle.

Survivors include her five children, David J. Hyatt and wife, Brenda, Tammy Strawder and husband, Jeff, Patty Glaser and husband Byron, Michael Smith and wife JoAnna, and Scottie R. Frost and husband Heath, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
