Flora Jeanette Matthews

Flora “Jeanette” Matthews, 88, passed away on December 8, 2016. Funeral Services will be held in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2:00pm with Reverends John Burnett and Kevin Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2:00-4:00pm.

Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Aubrey Julius Holman and Flossie Floree Holman, born in Columbus, Georgia.

She retired from AT&T as well as member of the AT&T Pioneers. Mrs. Matthews was also a member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church and enjoyed her Sunday School Class there.

Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be truly missed.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter “Walt” Franklin Matthews.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by her children, Earl Matthews of Ellerslie, GA., Tommy Matthews of Phenix City, AL., Brenda and Dale Vasquez of Harris County, Susan and David Emmert of Columbus, GA.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Joyce and Fred Hart of Sun City, SC.; brothers, Jimmy Holman of Adairsville, GA., Bobby Holman of Columbus, GA.; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
