

Frances K. Batts, 91, of Columbus, GA passed into eternal peace Friday, May 20, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Dr. Richard Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Frances, daughter of the late Lucy and Thomas Keith, was born in Geneva, AL on July 8, 1924. She was a graduate of Columbus Vocational Technical Institute as a Certified Nurse Aid. Frances provided in home health care for terminally ill patients giving medical attention, comfort, love and reassurance for their families. She was a member of the St. Francis Women’s Auxiliary and was a volunteer “Pink Lady” managing the Gift Shop. Frances was a long time member of Sherwood Methodist Church where she served as a loving childcare provider at their daycare facility and taught elementary Sunday school classes and vacation bible school. She was also a member of Upatoi United Methodist Church. Most notable, she deeply loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her beloved family and the beauty on this Earth.
Other than her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Hamilton Batts, Jr. She was a loving mother survived by her four children: Annette Adams (L.E.) of Fortson, GA., Brenda Mordic (Buddy) of Upatoi, GA., Rick Batts (Cheryl) of Midland, GA and Mike Batts (Lisa) of Tallahassee, FL; she was “grandma” to ten grandchildren: Brad Brooks (Amy), Charlie Mordic (Amber), Jennifer Tovey (Dean), Richard Mordic (Christi), Ricky Batts (Lauren), Cami Batts, Kelly Welborn (Hunter), Joe Batts, Jordan Batts and Erin Batts; three great grandchildren Brittany Brooks Crosby (Troy), Kate Tovey and Philip Mordic; one great great grandson Allen Crosby.
Flowers will be accepted, memorial contributions may be offered to Upatoi United Methodist Church, 13730 Macon Rd, Upatoi, GA 31829 or Columbus Hospice at www.columbushospice.org.
