Freida "May" (Ayers) Smith

Freida attended LaGrange High School in LaGrange, GA. She married Floyd Jackson Smith on July 23, 1955, at Hillside United Methodist Church in LaGrange, GA. They have four children, Sabrina Salas, Tammy J. Coty, Stanley S. Smith, and Timothy J. Smith.

She is preceded in death by her son, Stanley S. Smith and siblings, Albert Buren Ayers, Jr., Aileen Elizabeth Rice (Ayers), Ronald Adrian Ayers, Elwood Gary Ayers, Barbara Ann Bearden-Turner (Ayers), Diann Ayers Baker, and Peggy Louise Partridge (Ayers).

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Jackson Smith; daughters, Sabrina Salas and Tammy J. Coty; son, Timothy J. Smith; daughter-in-law, Valerie Stickles; and sister-in-law, Mary Ayers. Grandchildren include: Amanda Ball (Wesley), Jennifer Wesley, Jessica Salmon (Smith), Gabrielle Smith, Samantha Smith, and Jeremy Smith. Great-grandchildren include: Lillian Coup and William Ball.

Freida was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved gardening and landscaping. In her younger years she was an excellent artist, creating many paintings for her home and to share with loved ones. She also enjoyed writing and completed a novel, short stories, and various poems.

A Visitation for the Family and Friends of Freida will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
