Gail was born June 15, 1948, in Americus, Georgia to the late John L. Lawhorn, Sr. and Mae Bradley Lawhorn. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Sams and her brother Walter Lawhorn.
Gail was a true southern belle. She was a BellSouth telephone operator for 35 years. After her retirement in 2005, Gail enjoyed doing the things she loved most including traveling with Earl to the beaches of Florida and to the mountains of Tennessee, volunteering at Hughston Hospital, and attending annual Bradley family reunions. She enjoyed cooking for family celebrations and loving on newborn babies! She never missed a chance to watch her Georgia Bulldogs or the Atlanta Braves.
Gail was a Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and Women Active for Christ (WAC). She loved a good sing along and favored the old gospel hymns. Gail had a kind word for everyone. She was a prayer warrior. Her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews of all ages brought much joy to her life. She loved big and everyone loved her!
Gail leaves behind fond memories to her daughters Lisa Moore and Jodi Smith (George); granddaughters Alyssa Bell (Walker) and Aubree Moore; great grandsons Jackson Bell and Everett Bell; Sisters Donna Cross (Edward) and Stacey Burns (Bruce); Brother John “Bubba” Lawhorn, Jr. (Diane); Sisters-in-love Nancy Ayers (William) and Debbie Franklin (Ernie). Gail was a vibrant part of a large and loving family that she loved dearly including many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from BellSouth and Calvary Free Will Baptist Church.
Matthew 25:23 ‘Well done, good and faithful servant…Come, celebrate with me.’
