Gary L Hanscomb

Gary L. Hanscomb, 63, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on August 4, 2021. The family will receive guests on Friday August 6, 2021 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Mr. Hanscomb will be privately interred at Parkhill Cemetery.

Gary was born on October 25, 1957 in Kentucky, to the late Meryle and Joanne Hanscomb. In Gary’s youth he faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He then went on to work at TSYS as a Document Shredder.

Gary had a passion for music. Though he enjoyed a wide variety of genres, from classic rock to 90's alternative to even the Latin sounds of Selena, it was the bands he latched onto in his youth that were on constant rotation, with the Beatles leading the forefront of those plays. In addition to music, he was an avid film and TV fan and had quite the movie collection, with Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee being two of his favorite actors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Hanscomb; and his brother, Gene Hanscomb.

Those left to cherish his memories are his son, Andrew and his wife Shannon Hanscomb; his two grandchildren, Maxwell and Rose Hanscomb; his two brothers, Dean and Terry Hanscomb; and his niece, Melissa Hanscomb.
