Geraldine "Geri" Marie Sweeney Pate, age 76, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025. A Visitation for the Family and Friends of Geraldine will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Geri was born on October 29, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York; the daughter of Joseph William Sweeney and Angela Sweeney. Geri married the love of her life, James R. Pate; they have been married for 56 years. She led a life of service as she was a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Labor and Delivery for nearly 15 years. She looked for ways to serve and help others; she was caring, creative, fun loving, and in the most wonderful way, she was sassy. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Geri is survived by her husband, Jim; her three children, Michele (Ben) Sandlin, JJ (Kim) Pate, Jeff (Michelle) Pate; and this nana’s pride and joy, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
