

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Frank Parr officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
MSGT Montoya was born in Selma, CA., on March 13, 1923. He has lived in Columbus for most of his life and was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service. After his military career he taught school with the Muscogee County School District and worked as a tutor at Reese Road Elementary, and was very active with the Literacy Program here in Muscogee County. His wife Alice Carter Montoya preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Diane Dorminy Colburn and husband Duel of Charlotte, NC, Jimmy Dorminy and wife Rita of Phenix City, AL., and Joanie Dorminy Perry and husband Jeff of Clarksdale, TN, five grandchildren, JimmiAnn Moore, Shane Dorminy, Camden Dorminy, Brian Perry, and Lisa Perry, six great grandchildren, and a brother Fred Montoya of California.
