Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Brunhilda Roesch DuVall passed from life on earth to her eternal life on July 19th at the age of 84. Surrounded by her loving family, Hilda passed peacefully from life to life, into the arms of our Lord and Savior.
Hilda lived a full life with many amazing accomplishments and experiences. She experienced the joys of being a beloved daughter and sister, a loving wife, a devoted mother and mother-in-law, a cherished “Oma”, a teacher, a librarian, etc. The list is too long to detail.
Hilda was a first generation American, born to German immigrants Herman and Marie Roesch on March 19, 1932. She and her younger sister Loretta grew up in a German community in Detroit, Michigan. German was the first language that Hilda spoke, and she spoke the language fluently well into her adult years. After Hilda finished high school, she attended Wayne State University and received her Bachelors Degree in Education in 1954.
Upon graduating and receiving her teaching credential, Hilda moved overseas to teach in the American School on the U.S. Army Base in Bamberg, Germany. It was here that she met, fell in love with, and married Captain Robert A. DuVall in 1958. She spent the next two years traveling Europe with her husband before returning to the United States to start her family.
Hilda returned to the States and had two daughters, Susan and Laura DuVall. The family spent the next years traveling across the country as Bob received various assignments within the U.S. military. Eventually they were stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia where they settled and raised their family. During this time, Hilda obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Georgia State University and became an active member of Wynnton United Methodist Church.
Hilda will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Laura and Tim Molony, and her daughter and husband, Susan and Tim Epp and their children Erin, Taylor and Tanner. We rejoice that Hilda is reunited with her husband, Robert DuVall and her father, mother, and sister Loretta in Heaven.
The family will welcome guests for a Memorial Celebration of Hilda’s Life Saturday, July 23, 2016 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, followed by a reception in The Wildwood Room of Striffler-Hamby. The Reverend Dr. Richard Wright will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to your choice of any organization dedicated to research, education and support for Alzheimer's disease.
