Irvin "I.J." James Wiggins

He was born in Red River County, Texas, on September 26, 1920, to the late James Arthur Wiggins and Bertha Kays Ward Wiggins. He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He received multiple military honors for his service. He later retired as a bus driver for the city of Columbus. He was known for his harmonica playing and cowboy hats. He was a faithful member of First Evangelistic Church in Phenix City, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma Wiggins, a daughter, Martha Carter, his parents James and Bertha, brother Henry Dennis Wiggins, 2 brothers who passed as young children, a half-sister Jenetta Ward, grandson James Aikens, and son-in-law Rev. Carl Anderson.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Anderson; granddaughter Amy (Jason) Mort, as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will take place, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Rd, Columbus GA. A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Ed Ray, will take place just after visitation at 2:00 pm in Parkhill Cemetery.
