James Walter "Tom" Holcombe

James Walter "Tom" Holcombe, 67, of Fortson, GA died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Caryl Martinez officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Holcombe was born June 14, 1944 in Rome, GA, son of Odessa Moore Holcombe and the late James Thomas "J.T." Holcombe. He retired from BellSouth as a Fiber Optic Technician after many years of service. Mr. Holcombe was a member of the Midland Masonic lodge #144, the Scottish Rite, Al Sihah Temple in Macon, GA, the Columbus Ft. Benning Shrine Club, and was Past Director of ROJ Court, 146. Mr. Holcombe was Baptist in faith and he had also served in the US Army Reserves.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mandy Holcombe; three sons, Jimmy Holcombe, Anthony Holcombe, and Charles Holcombe; one step-son, Ed Powell; five grandchildren, Kaci Holcombe, Chris Holcombe, Michelle Holcombe, Gracen Holcombe, and Kansas Powell; two sisters, Sherry Waters (Ken), and Pat Turner (Ed).
