Jack was born January 11, 1976 in Fort Campbell, KY, the son of LTC (Ret) James Calvert Grugin, Jr. and Marilyn Hutton Grugin. Jack served his country as a proud military family member for the first fifteen years of his life, moving to Columbus, GA with his family in 1983. He graduated from Hardaway High School in 1994, earning the Georgia Hope Scholarship and was co-captain of his high school's wrestling team. Jack placed his love of God, family and friends above all else. He was exceptionally compassionate and polite and shared his wit and humor with everyone. His positive, outgoing and hard working attitude served him well in both the restaurant and income tax businesses. His 'never give up' attitude and constant expressions of gratitude for the love provided from friends and professionals during his time of need over the past two years helped all of us become better people. In an area where college athletics is a high priority for many fans, he was known as the Kentucky Wildcat. Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Stacia Lynette Grugin.
Survivors include his parents, LTC (Ret) James Calvert Grugin, Jr. and Marilyn Hutton Grugin of Columbus; a sister, Trinity Leigh Rowland of Columbus; paternal grandparents, James Calvert Grugin, Sr. and his wife, Loise, and Betty Nelson Grugin; maternal grandparents, Garvis Owen and Rosa Lee Hutton; niece, Madison Brooke Rowland; nephew, Zackery Banks Rowland, both of Columbus; uncle, Stephen Duncan Grugin and his wife, Betsy; and aunt, Lea Ann Beasmore and her husband, Kevin.
