Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday September 6, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Neil Stephens and Chaplain Steve Croft will officiate. A private burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Meadows was born January 21, 1921 in Columbus, GA son of the late Robert Meadows and Ethel Simerly Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Parks Meadows. Mr. Meadows was a retired foreman with Southern Bell, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a graduate of Jordan High School a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army Aircorp veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Pauline Ledford and her husband Walt of Columbus, his son, James g. Meadows and his wife Sue of Huntsville, AL, 4 grandchildren, Joseph Ledford, Zack Ledford, Malinda Cagle, Chris Meadows, 5 great grandchildren and 3 sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the Vista Care Hospice, Columbus, GA. in memory of James J. Meadows.
