James Sherrod

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road,

Columbus, GA. 31907 according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday

afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Sherrod was born in Stewart County, Georgia on September 25, 1928 to the late James Sherrod, Sr.

and Jimmie Rosa Lee Hill Sherrod. He has lived in Columbus all of his life and was retired from

Newman Construction Company where he worked as the Office/Project Manager for many years.

He served as Past President of the Columbus Exchange Club and Past President of the District Exchange Club.

Mr. Sherrod served as Vice Chairman of the Columbus Better Government Association.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy H. Sherrod of Columbus,

a daughter, Karen Marie Floyd of Smyrna, GA. three sons, Anthony James Sherrod of Sedonia, AZ,

Donald Allen Sherrod of Columbus and Dr. Michael Joseph Sherrod and wife Mariella of Wilton, ME.

six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Tabb of Phenix City, AL, and

several nieces and nephews.
