
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 17 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. A funeral is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 18 at St. Andrews Presbyterian, 4980 Hancock, Midland, Georgia. Bill Douglas will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janet’s life.
Janet is survived by her mother Nancy Childs, of Bremen, Georgia, her sister Cynthia Dzienis of Columbus, her brother Andrew Dawson of Columbus, nephew Wesley Dzienis of Columbus, her uncle Gary Childs of Florence, Alabama, and her faithful friend Debra Beesley of Columbus. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Janice Shaver and grandfather, James W. Shaver of Columbus.
Janet was born on November 8, 1961, in Columbus to parents James E. Bullin and Nancy Childs. She graduated from Columbus State University with a degree in English Literature and an endorsement in education. She worked at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Christian Heritage Academy, Carver High School, and most recently at Calvary Christian School teaching secondary English.
She enjoyed reading, nature, and teaching. Janet wanted to be remembered this way: “I loved my Lord and my family. I am with Him now and am not hurting or sick. I am whole and well and happy. Join me there when it’s time. I love you.”
The family would like to thank Dr. Jiang at JBACC and Dr. Oh at Hospice for their care. They also thank the friends from St. Andrews Presbyterian and Calvary Christian School who supported Janet and her family.
