

SFC(US Army Retired) Jerzy Wojtysiak, 83, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully at Gentiva Hospice Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Jerzy was born January 25, 1932 in Wolabedkowska, Poland to his late parents, Casimir and Jadwiga Wojtysiak. He was retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. Jerzy served in many parts of the world including; Germany, Okinawa, Vietnam, and different parts of the United States. He retired from Lummus Industries of Columbus, GA, after 25 years. He was Catholic by faith and a faithful parishioner of St.Anne's Catholic Church for 42 years.
The family will receive guests Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 6:00 pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, for a Rosary Service with Father McCarthy officiating, with the family receiving friends afterwards until 8 p.m.. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church with interment following at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Seale, AL, at 1:30 pm EST.
Other than his parents, Jerzy was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Vera Helga Ehlert Wojtysiak of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Haline and Maria; and one brother Jean, all of France; two daughters, Hiya (David) Hoffman of Plano, TX and Carolyn (Wayne) Attaway of Marietta, GA; two sons, Michael (Liz) Wojtysiak of Bristow, VA, and Steven Wojtysiak of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren, Morgan, Alexander, Adam, Sydney, Christopher, Joshua, Daniel, Nicholas, Matthew, and Hannah.
