Columbus , GA- 1stSGT. US Army (Ret) Jimmy E. Deason, 75 of Columbus died on October 14, 2013.

Funeral services for Mr. Deason will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00pm, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus with Timothy Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Full Military Honors rendered.Visitation for Mr. Deason will be from 6-8pm, on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the funeral home.

Mr. Deason was born August 6, 1938 to the late John and Mary Reaves Deason. In addition to his parents Mr. Deason was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Ralph and Ellis Deason and a sister, Vera Baker. Mr. Deason served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Mr. Deason retired as a 1st Sergeant.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Deason, two sons, John Garner, Michael Deason, two daughters, Wanda (Andy)Newsome and Sandra (Jeremy Thorn)Morton, two sisters, Nina (Sam)Smith and Melba Earnest, four brothers, Neal (Sara) Deason, Dennis (Debra) Deason, Marvin (Lesile) Deason, and Johnny Deason, special sisters-in-law, Lorene and Sandra Deason and Debbie Eubanks, four grandsons, James Kirton, Deshawn Morton, J.J. and Hunter Thorn and many nieces and nephews.
