Karen Joan McGahee, 69, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2023 in Loganville, Georgia. She was born on June 6, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia the daughter of the late Harold McGahee and Lecie Mae (Brookins) McGahee.
Joan graduated from Jordan Vocational High School, Class of 1971. Following graduation she attended GA Baptist School of Nursing and Columbus College, where she earned her nursing degree. She practiced nursing for many years before switching her career to IT/Computer Programming. She recently retired from Progressive Lighting as Systems Manager after 20 years. Joan was Christian by faith, she was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church. During her free-time she enjoyed being outside in her yard and spending time with her extended family.
Joan leaves her loving memory and legacy to be cherished by her brothers, Ronald McGahee, Mack McGahee, Norman Lynn (Marlene) McGahee, Randy (Lingyi) McGahee, Keith (Teri) McGahee, and Robert Andy McGahee. Six nephews and five nieces, and many great nephews and nieces. And finally, her fur babies, Maddie, Molly, and Katie which were loved dearly.
A visitation for family and friends for Joan will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A funeral service to celebrate Joan's life will occur Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
