Jon Michael "Mike" Arwood, age 80, of Columbus, Georgia passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday March 4, 2023.
A visitation for Mike will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. A graveside celebration of Mike's life with Military honors will occur in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd., Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 am.
Mike was born in Newton, North Carolina. After High School he proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Mike was employed by W.T. Harvey Lumber Co. as an Overhead Door Supervisor, with over 30 years’ experience. Mike loved to watch the Georgia Dawgs, NASCAR, fishing with his children, and he was an avid bird watcher. He was all about having fun and had quotes that would stick in your mind- “If you can’t pay your bills, at least pay attention”. Mike loved his family as he leaves a hole in their hearts. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike was preceded in death by his dad Melwood Horne and his mother Ethel Collins Horne.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sandra F. Arwood; his daughters Ashley (Clint) Robinson; and Christina (Mark) Neal; his granddaughters Madelyn and Kerrigan Neal; sister, Sharron Roberta Voula; nephews, nieces and many friends and co-workers.
