Jonathan was first and foremost a devoted family man and a man of strong Christian faith. He lived with a clear mission to bring people to Christ and to church whenever the opportunity arose, believing deeply in the power of redemption and grace. He was a dedicated member of Our Restoration Church in Bay Minette, Alabama, where he faithfully worshiped and served alongside his church family.
A graduate of Teen Challenge, Jonathan experienced a life-changing transformation through the program. His testimony of redemption and renewed purpose went on to encourage and impact the lives of countless others, offering hope to those walking similar paths and pointing many toward faith and restoration.
Jonathan took great pride in his work and was a devoted employee of Webb Electric Company, where he served as an electric foreman. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence, qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
He was deeply devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with family. Jonathan was also known for his passion for American Bully dogs and proudly owned and operated Georgiasippi Kennels, where his dedication, integrity, and love for the breed were evident in all he did.
Jonathan is survived by his loving wife, Hannah Jean Hovey; his children, Kimberly Madison Willis (and her husband Nate Willis), Jonathan Hovey, Jr. (Makenzie Boyette), and Ruby Grace Hovey; his mother, Kimberly Hovey; his grandmothers, Joyce Fincher and Lois Lee; his sisters,Tracy Hovey-Phillips and Kelly Crabb (and her husband Geoffrey Crabb); his brother, Jack Hovey, Jr.; his cherished grandchildren, Ivy Joyce Willis and Stetson Jack Willis; his father-in-law, Jimmy Cato; brothers-in-law, Josh Cato and Doug Tsagaris; his nephews, Henry Crabb and Hatcher Crabb; his nieces, Harper Lily Crabb and Chloe Phillips; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and close relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hovey, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Shelley Cato; his grandfather, John Nathan Hornsby; his grandmother, Mildred Hovey; and his uncles, Mike Hornsby and Randy Looney, and his aunt, LaDonna Vajda.
Jonathan’s life was a testimony of faith, restoration, and love. His influence will continue through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the faith he so boldly shared.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on January 4, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM (EST) at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Fisher Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM (EST) at the same location.
