Joseph Daniel Brown Jr. was born in Columbus, Georgia on September 21, 1956 to the late Joseph Daniel and Margaret Brown, and passed away on May 20, 2026 at the age of 69. A longtime resident of Georgia, Joseph will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude by all who had the privilege to know him. After the first mention, he will be lovingly remembered as Joe.
Joe graduated from Jordan High School in 1974, carrying forward a steady determination that shaped the life he built. He devoted himself to honest work and faithful responsibility, and in 2020 he retired from Crown Lift Trucks after 32 years of service—years marked by reliability, perseverance, and the quiet pride that comes from doing a job well.
For 46 years, Joe shared a devoted marriage with Annette Shamblin Brown. He is survived by his wife; his two sons, Benjamin Kirk Brown (Crystal) and Matthew Scott Brown (Taylor); and his three grandsons, Nicholas, Jaylen, & Klayton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joy Leeth; his beloved aunt, Joyce Brown; nieces and nephews to include: Kim Hudson Powell, Larry Hudson, Jr., & Rob Brown and numerous others. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Hazel, Lisa, & Robert; uncles, Charles McKinney & Gene Brown; aunt, Aileen Gallops; and brother-in-law, Mike Shamblin; nieces and nephews, Cindy Lowrey, Ronnie Jr. & Donnie Padgett.
A man of gentle patience and steady wisdom, Joe showed his love most clearly through what he gave of himself—his time, his labor, and his unwavering presence. He enjoyed traveling with his family, hosting holidays, attending milestones, and watching his grandsons play ball, finding genuine contentment in the moments that mattered most.
Talented with his hands and tireless in his efforts, Joe poured his skill into remodeling homes, restoring old cars, building motors, automotive painting, and crafting custom toys and tools for his sons and grandsons. His favorite way to relax was watching his family enjoy the home he was able to provide—a home made secure through selfless work, loyal commitment, and a kind-hearted desire to see others cared for. His boys spent many happy moments learning from him and building alongside him, lessons shaped by his calm guidance and steadfast example.
Joe was a Christian by faith, and that faith was reflected in the character he lived each day—through his morals, his resilience, and the love he held for his family beyond measure. He held himself to a high standard of honesty and loyalty, and he passed those values on to his heirs, leaving a legacy of integrity, devotion, and enduring care.
