SGT(Ret) Joseph Wesley Wells Jr.

SGT (Ret) Joseph W. "Buddy" Wells, Jr., age 81, resident of Columbus, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 3 p.m. with Chaplain (CAPT) Lem Pearsall officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5-7 p.m.

Mr. Wells, son of the late Joseph Wesley Wells, Sr. and Mammie Jacobs Wells, was born March 31, 1934 in Rowena, Georgia. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served is country honorably for over 20 years. During his distinguished military career, he served in both the Korea Era Conflict and the Vietnam Era Conflict.

Mr. Wells is survived by his wife, Agnes B. Wells of Columbus; six children, Jimmy Wells of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joe Wells and his wife Stephanie of Lannette, Alabama, Jean Garver of Columbus, JoAnn Batchelor and her husband Rob of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Charlotte Clemens and her husband Kevin of Levenworth, Kansas, and Walter Wells and his wife Vonnie of Fortson, Georgia; two sisters, Wilma Lovette of Americus, Georgia and Sarah Weeks of Fort Gaines, Georgia; three brothers, William D. Wells of Jacksonville, Florida, Donald Wells and his wife Martha Ann of LaGrange, Georgia, and Jimmy Wells and his wife Nonnie, also of LaGrange, Georgia; 11 grandchildren;, 9 great grand children ;many other relatives and friends.
