

Josephine W. Bush, age 85, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 11 a.m. with Reverend Frank Parr officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Bush, daughter of the late Ira Woodruff and Mittie Mae Garrett Woodruff, was born January 20, 1926 in Hogansville, GA. She was a graduate of Greenville High School. Mrs. Bush was a homemaker and attended Wynnton United Methodist Church. Her greatest passion was to help family and friends during times of need. Her giving heart defined her life. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Columbus Regional Medical Center, where she served faithfully as a volunteer for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Bush, Jr and a brother, Rev. Eugene Woodruff. Mrs. Bush is survived by one son, Mike Bush and his wife Donna of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Dot Bruner of Columbus and Bobbie Greene of Brinson, GA; three brothers, Ray Woodruff and his wife Peggie of Clearwater, FL, Milton Woodruff and his wife Betty of Columbus, and Fred Woodruff and his wife Myrtis of Jefferson, GA; sister-in-law, Dianne Woodruff of Dothan, AL; two grandsons, Brian Bush and his wife Kathy of Wilmington, NC and Andy Bush of Charleston, SC; three great-grandchildren, Samuel Berkley and Logan Bush; other relatives and friends.
