Judith Emily Gill, age 78, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, August 12, 2022 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00PM in the chapel at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Mr. Rick Davison officiating. Interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery 1000 Victory Dr., Columbus, GA 31901.
Judith was born in Columbus, GA on September 4, 1943, the daughter of Willie Radford Gill and Margaret Lillian Jones Gill. She was a graduate of Jordan High School and LaGrange Technical College, which led to her becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office. She retired after 20 years of service to both the Muscogee County Jail and the Muscogee County Prison, where she made many friends and spoke of them often. Judith loved to travel, visit with friends and family, tell jokes, and have a good laugh. She is truly loved by her entire family, especially her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. She lived her life for them unselfishly.
Other than her parents, Judith is preceded in death by her brothers Charles Gill, Gerald Gill, and her granddaughter, Heather Lee Reynolds.
Judith is survived by her daughters, Judith Ann Jones, Margie Cannon (fiancé, Robert Lasseigne), Alison Andrews, Chanda Martin (Ross); Grandchildren, Samantha Jones (George Lamb, Jr.), April Jones (Myron Geotz), Ron Jones, Trey Cannon (Mazie), Logan Cannon, Mark Reynolds(Kayley), Cameron Joyner (Morgan), Hailey Joyner (Robert Flores), Emily Whitaker (fiancé, Caleb Gomillion); great-grandchildren, Alaiyna Tarvin, Zachary Tarvin, Sophie Cannon, Lillia Cannon, Landon Reynolds, Madeline Reynolds, Marley Reynolds, Maverick Reynolds, Hayley Presley, Ady Myers, Noah Joyner, Ashlyn Joyner; brother, James A. Gill (Cheryl) of Carrollton, GA; four nieces and two nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of her medical team: retired Doctor Richard Robbins, Doctor Harvey Harris, Doctor Rajeev Chauhan, and Doctor Soumon Rudra. A special thank you to our Mother’s newest caregiver, Abbey Boyd, whom she loved dearly, along with Ann and Weezie. The family would also like to thank Columbus Hospice for keeping our mother comfortable during her final days. We apologize for anyone left out, but we are eternally grateful for all of your efforts.
