Karen Scogins Bell

Karen Scogins Bell, age 72, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Danese Delores Barnes Scogins and William R. Scogins on June 23, 1953. Karen loved her family and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and baking. She was a great baker and was known for the famous birthday cakes she baked for family members. Karen’s biscuits, cornbread and other baked goods were just as famous with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband David Wayne Bell; her mother Danese Delores Barnes Scogins; her grandson Taylor McMichael.

She leaves her memory to be cherished by her father, William R. Scogins; her children: Jennifer Martin (Leon Hudson), Casey McMichael (Tony), Josh Bell (Autumn), Matthew Bell (Laura), Misti Gilbert (Jason), Bryan Bell (Virginia); her grandchildren: Jesseca Martin (Wayne), Shannon Wilson, Melanie McMichael, Allison McMichael, A.J. McMichael, Austin Bell, Maddox Bell, Eva Bell, Katie Beckman, Joey Beckman, Ryan Gilbert (Jenne Lee), David Gilbert, and Druid Bell; her great granddaughters: Maddy Martin and Charlie Martin; her great grandsons: Ben Martin and Riley Strozier; her brothers: Rick Scogins, Charles Scogins, and Mike Scogins; and a host of other family members.

A visitation for family and friends for Karen will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Wildwood Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Following the visitation for family and friends, will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
