

Kenneth "Ken" Freeze, age 78, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Fountain City Nursing Facility, Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Freeze, son of the late Ralph Ivan Freeze and Marjorie Lucille Erwin Freeze, was born February 23, 1933 in Dayton, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably in the Korea Era Conflict. Mr. Freeze was also a member of the U.S. Army Band. After leaving the military, he worked at National Cash Register where he dedicated 25 years of faithful service. He then became Owner of Custom Frames and Things, Dayton, OH. Mr. Freeze attended Sherwood Presbyterian Church and was a member of Creative Exposures. He enjoyed wood working and wood turning. Mr. Freeze is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Freeze of Columbus; two nieces, Beth Campbell of Columbus and Pam Ward and her husband Chris of Warm Springs, GA; two nephews, Steven Schmalz and his wife Maria of Severna Park, MD and Fred Schmalz and his wife Debbie of Manchester, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
