Klara Mailman (nee Gusenleitner) was born in Austria on July 11, 1930 and passed away on September 3, 2023, in her home, surrounded by loved ones. Klara was a devout Roman Catholic and one of the founding members of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. She came to America with her husband, Peary Mailman, and the two set their roots in South Columbus. Klara was a fearless woman, who was a career military wife, devout mother, and homemaker, who lived through the tyranny of World War II, and survived to ensure that her children were raised safely and well-loved in America. We all knew our mother very differently and we all agree that she had an amazing sense of humor, she was a talented gardener, and she kept God in her soul and her children in her heart until her very last breath. She has passed along her courage, tenacity, and humor to her children, Monika Clasen (Brad) of Lodi, California, Paul Mailman (Leslie) of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Peter Mailman (Denise) of Columbus, Georgia, Richard Mailman of Stone Mountain, Georgia, James Mailman (Carol) of Columbus, Georgia, and Shirley Mailman of Asheville, North Carolina. As our family’s “Omi” she loved 8 grandchildren; as ”Great Omi” she loved 3 great grandchildren; and as “Great Great Omi” she loved 3 great great grandchildren and learned of her 4th and 5th just before her passing. Klara Mailman was predeceased by her husband, Peary Mailman, and her Grandson, Brandon Mailman. Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support and would like to invite anyone desiring to pay their last respects to join us at Our Lady of Lourdes on September 22, 2023, at 12:00 o’clock Noon, for a service celebrating our mother’s life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.shcolumbus.com for the Mailman family.
