He retired from Thunderbolt Marine in Savannah, GA as a Technical Manager for vessel (yacht) support. His colleagues respected him and his work ethic. Some say he always looked out for the customer, but one of the boat captains said, “He looked out for everyone.” He was an expert in his field, always willing to lend a helping hand and was instrumental in solving myriad problems within his scope of expertise. Everyone thought highly of him and his contributions to assisting boat captains/owners of a variety of boating vessels during his tenure with Palmer Johnson, InterMarine, and Thunderbolt Marine all of Savannah.
He was an active member of the Savannah Sports Fishing Club for many years, enjoying his time boating with friends and family and winning numerous fishing awards. Larry loved the water. He enjoyed the beach, boating, fishing, and spending time with his blended family. Luncheons and planning social events with friends and classmates from elementary to high school were some of his favorite moments. He was loved and respected very much by his family and friends and will be missed very much.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he volunteered at Bethesda Home for Boys, frying approximately 200 lbs of chicken during their annual Alumni Anniversary for 35+ years. Student volunteers from the school assisted with all preparations under Larry’s expert supervision.
A Funeral service will be held in the Fisher Chapel at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM. The family will meet with friends and family prior to the service at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
