He was married to Geneva Davis and from that union Makisha L. Davis and Leon Davis Jr were born. Leon later married Gwendolyn L. Walton on October 31, 2003. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and employee.
At an early age Leon accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland Park, Florida. Leon always professed his Love for Christ and grew in his relationship with Christ.
Leon joined the United States Army in July of 1978 serving two tours in Germany, a Combat Tour in Honduras, and several other Continental US tours. Leon retired from the US Army in 1998 and settled in Columbus, Georgia. Leon was a dedicated and faithful employee at Discount Auto Parts/Advance Auto Parts from 1998 until 2017. He held the position of Store Manager.
On January 15, 2019 Leon answered the call of his Heavenly Father and traded time for eternity. He leaves to cherish his memories; four sons, Leon Davis Jr., Las Vegas NV, Tyrone Walton, Terrance Walton and Jay C. (Benita) Walton, all of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Makisha (Jeff) Bogan of Las Vegas NV, La’Quasha (Cortese) Crowell of Columbus, GA eight grandchildren, Arielle, Na’Quasha, Jordan, Michael, Nyla, Cortese, Terra, Kayden; two sister, Delphine (Dee) Greathouse of Fayetteville GA, Robine (Adrian) Walton-Oliver of Columbus, GA; seven brothers, Arthur and Vincent Davis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Henry Walton, Jr. of Columbus, GA, Vincent (Diane) Walton of Columbus, GA, James Walton of Merryville, IN, Otis Walton of El Cajon, CA , and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler Hamby with Elder Adrian Oliver officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. A repass will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary after cemetery services.
