Louis Fredrick Hughes, born on December 20, 1940, was welcomed into heaven on December 10, 2021. Greeting “the Giant” – as some would call him, at the gates of heaven were his parents, Louis and Claire Hughes, his wife, Hilda Randolph Hughes, his daughter, Lisa Fay Finley, his nephew Eddie Beasley, and his nephew, James Wesley Bolton III.
Freddie was a locally well-known hard worker at Martins Food (later known as Five Star) vender service until he retired. When Freddie was not working or hanging out with family, he could be found on the golf course. Freddie discovered his talent for the sport at a young age. A scratch golfer in his youth and well-known player among the pros, Freddie would often find himself playing with pro golfers as they came in to town. Freddie also loved to play pool. Many called him a “pool shark” to which he would entertain a laugh. Besides golf and pool, Freddie loved was a kind-hearted man that never judged a soul. You could always find him with a smile on his face ready to listen or to talk.
Freddie had 11 cousins. In 2021, one of his cousins set out to connect with the rest of the family. By God’s great timing, Freddie was able to meet 3 of his cousins this past summer including, Nancy green, Brenda Marsengill, and Mary Norman.
Freddie is survived by his granddaughter, Brandi Wrenn; two great-grandchildren, William Norris and Elizabeth Wrenn; his grandson, Daniel Lloyd Jr.; son-in-law Ricky Dewayne Finley; niece, Donna Peterson and her husband, Paul; nephew Stevie Beasley and his wife, Crystal; sister, Joan M. Bolton; brother in law, James w. Bolton; niece, Angela Fracker and her husband, Al; and his great nieces, Kalin Da Rosa and Sierra Cobb.
