

Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Louise Brooks Woodfin died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at her home. Funeral services will be held in the Mill Room of Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon RD. Columbus, GA, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Hal N. Brady officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home at 12:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.
Louise was born in Geneva County, AL, on March 25, 1934, to Christine and BJ Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Geraldine Kelley. She was a homemaker most of her life and retired from the District Attorney’s office as a secretary.
Louise’s life goal was to be a mother to her children, who were precious to her. She loved them and her ten grandchildren and was proud of each one. She was a devoted friend who will be remembered for her kindness and loyalty in taking friends to doctors’ and hair salon appointments and sitting with them in their homes. She gave selflessly of herself to others all her life, believing that helping others was her service to God.
Her brother James Brooks and his wife Meda survive her. Other survivors include her four children and their spouses: Blane and Julie Woodfin, Greg and Tara Woodfin, Kim and Randy Shannon, and Jan and Tim Drew. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Brooks Woodfin, Blane Woodfin and his fiancée Ellie Rice, Will Shannon and his wife Maria, Paige Shannon, Mallie Woodfin, Laurel Woodfin, Gracie Woodfin, Kent Woodfin, Chet Drew, and Maggie Drew; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
