Marguerite Smith Pharris

Sharpsburg, Georgia- Marguerite Smith Pharris, age 91, resident of Sharpsburg, Georgia, died on Thursday, September 11, 2014. A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Preston Gleaton officiating.

Mrs. Pharris, daughter of the late Jesse Smith and Mable Reese Smith, was born June 27, 1923 in Fortson, Georgia. She was a country girl, raised on a farm with four siblings in which she was the last survivor of her family. Mrs. Pharris was a devoted Christian and member of 1st Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia previously Wynnton Baptist before moving from Columbus. She was very family oriented, devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren who were the center of her life as well as her nieces and nephews who she was extremely close with. It was always a treat to have a home cooked meal from Mrs. Pharris, she was a great cook, baker and neighbor who would do anything for her friends. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Pharris Sr. Mrs. Pharris is survived by her sons, Dan Pharris (Martha), Doug Pharris (Jennifer), Don Pharris; granddaughters, Robin Lea Pharris, Allison Pharris, Andrea Pharris, Jessie Pharris, Gracie Pharris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
