Matthew Terrell Collins, Sr.

Matt was born to the late James Collins and Jeanette Young on October 8th, 1966, at the Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

His survivors include his wife, Dawanna Collins, Waverly Hall, GA. His daughters and sons-in-law: Brent and Tabetha Marie Grantham, Hamilton, GA, and Brandon and Terri Sue Sanders, Midland, GA. His son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Mandi Tripp, Columbus, GA. His most precious grandchildren: Aurora Elizabeth Grantham, age 5, Grayson Luke Sanders, age 5, identical twins Owen Liam Clark Sanders, age 20 months, Pearson Allen Reece Sanders, age 20 months, Gregory Cole Grantham, age 12, Kamille Rose Tripp, age 12, and Scarlet Estelle Tripp, age 10. His brothers, David Young, Prairie Village, Kansas, Clarence Elvin Young, Jr., and wife Jeanette, Columbus, GA, and his sister Jo Rita Canelon and husband Rolando, Lake Park, GA. His numerous honorary sons and daughters, an abundance of nieces and nephews, and cousins galore.

His legacy lives in us – in every act of love, every moment of strength, and every selfless heartbeat. We will honor him not just in memory, but through his music and in the way we live, love, and lift each other up. In a tragic accident, Matthew Terrell Collins, Sr., and his son Matthew Collins, Jr., best friends, lost their lives together.

Matt was preceded in death by his precious grandson Caden Allen Sanders, 1 day old, father, James Collins and wife Ann, Mother, Jeanette Young and husband, Clarence Elvin Young Sr., sister-in-law, Tessie Young, brothers, Joseph and Michael and sisters Christella and Carol.
