Maude Mitchell White

Maude Mitchell White, age 91, resident of Columbus, GA died on February 7, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 3 p.m., with Reverend Frank Parr officiating. Private interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. White, daughter of the late William Claud Mitchell and Maude Seward Mitchell, was born September 30, 1919 in Columbus. She was a homemaker and member of Wynnton United Methodist Church and also a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. Mrs. White graduated from Columbus High School and later Huntington College, Montgomery, AL. She then volunteered tutoring for many students and also taught English to a Vietnamese family. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Ritchie Moore White, Sr.; brothers, Arthur Claud Mitchell and Edward William Mitchell; and a sister, Marjorie Lillian Mitchell. She is survived by one daughter, Betsy White Amon and husband Tommy; three sons, Ritchie Moore White, Jr and his wife Bonnie, William Alton White, Sr and his wife Lynn, and Larry Seward White and his wife Sharon; a sister, Mary Mitchell Bailey of Wilmington, NC; sister-in-law, Margaret DuBose Mitchell; eleven grandchildren, Debi Federinko and her husband John, Patti Kelly, Barbi Nobles and her husband Mark, Ritchie M. White III and his wife Molly, Casey White and his wife Emily, Alton White and his wife Ashlea, Geary White and his wife Tammy, Ross White and his wife Ashley, Mitchell White and his fiance' Amy, Molly Weeks and her husband Alton, and Bryant Amon; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Wynnton United Methodist Church, P.O. box 5469, Columbus, GA 31906.
