Dear Larry and Family,
I was so sad to learn today from my sister Sharon Berreth that sweet sweet Carol is no longer with us.  I can hardly believe after seeing her at daddy's funeral a few months ago that she is gone.  There were so many years growing up together at Pinehurst, fun times always when she was around. I always looked up to her.  She had a radiant smile and such a gentle spirit.  There are some people that just touch lives by their presence and she was one.  You all are in my thoughts and prayers always.  I am truly saddened today.

I an so sorry to hear about Mrs. Pannell.
She was my daughters parapro in kindergarten and we all loved her..May god be with you and your family..

Larry, I cannot tell you how sad I was to learn of Carol's death, this truly breaks my heart.  I know without a doubt she is now in God's arms. Carol was a sweet and gentle christian person. She always saw the bright side to any situation. Know that she touched all of our lives in one way or another. May God watch over you and your family in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mrs Pannell, she was my olderst daughter parapro when she was in first grade, and I work with her for a little while at Dimom Magnet Academy,she was a lovely christian person,and you could see the God in her. My prayers are with the family for I know you have lost such a precious jewel.

Larry and family, my prayers are with you during this time of grief. We know where Carol is, and she is no longer suffering. The loss of her is still there. We miss her and will always love her.

Carol had such a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She was such a treasure and made all her students and friends at Mathews feel that they were the most important people in the world! Her kindness and hand of friendship touched all of us and we're all better for having known her. My deepest sympathies to Larry and the rest of her family. You were her heart and she loved all of you so much!!! A two-minute conversation with Carol would be filled with tales of her precious children and grandchildren. I hope that your faith and the memories shared by friends will be of some small comfort during these dark days.

Dearest Larry, Bryan & Scott,

The words elude me as to how to explain to you what Carol meant to me.  She was always someone I looked up to.  In our small family, girls were the majority & we were raised by some of the strongest, God-fearing women I will ever know.  Being the youngest of the grandchildren (at that time) I knew that I was special to Carol & that she cared so deeply for me.  We were a small, close-knit family & there was such comfort in that closeness.  As we grew up & all of us had families of our own, it was not always so easy to stay connected.  But Carol always made the effort to be there & to be present when she was needed the most.  She essentially stepped into the "Nannie" role after the passing of Nannie, Aunt Dot, & my mother, Aunt Polly.  I was so grateful for that because I still felt that I had that strong connection to those beloved women because of Carol.  There were many events in the recent years that I'm not sure I would haved fared so well if it had not been for her reassuring presence & her Christian views that she shared with me during illness & loss of loved ones.  I can hear her voice in my ears right now & I am taking her advice, as she instructed me through the loss of my mother, that we will meet again on the other side & what a gift we have because we know where our loved ones are.  She always said she had no idea how others could bear the loss without the love of Christ.  I am positively sure she is with her family, your family, our family & is happy & whole.  That is how I will see her for the rest of my life.  Although I will be sad & miss her presence, her laughter, her solid Christian witness, our discussions of our vivid remembrances of our childhood, our regrets that we wished we had paid more attention to our Nannie's cooking & sewing skills (ha-ha), I will carry on knowing that what she would have wanted & required from me would be to go forward & live my life with passion, just as she did.  I know that she would want you & the boys to do the same.
I can see why she wanted to retire & spend more time with her family.  Bryan & Scott found excellent wives who have raised excellent children.  Carol was so excited about Aniya, too.  I know that Carol's presence will remain in the midst of all of you forever.  We just did not realize that her family time would be spent with her heavenly family instead of her earthly family.
Remain strong & know that God will provide a way every single moment of every single day to walk through the sadness & confusion of her loss.  There will be happiness again ahead for all of you.

I am so sorry for your lose.  I worked with Carol at Mathews for a short time, but enjoyed working with her very much.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and I know God will bless and heal you.

Melissa Carol and I often played well into the early evenings with several of the Leary Ave playmates so many years ago.  I can remember her beautiful smile and her delightful laughter.  She often played the piano for me so we could have sing-a-longs, our most favorite song at that time was "I Will Sing the Wondrous Story".  In my mind,heart,and soul today I can still hear and see her playing that song in her childhood home on Leary Ave.  Regretfully the years separated us.  I missed her then, but I know she is singing a Wondrous Song in Heaven with Jesus and our loved ones, today.  You are still missed! Family, my heart goes out to you for your loss.  God Bless You all. We were blessed to have Mrs. Pannell as our daughter's para-pro during her kindergarten year. Carol was a huge influence on Jordan and helped instill a love of school and learning in her that continues to carry her (now into the 5th grade.) 

Carol's inherent goodness and love of the Lord and the people he put in her path was a beacon that drew you in. While she will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing that we will see her again one day.

Our prayers go to her family and all of those who will miss her.

Carol, my dear, dear friend. I am going to miss you so much. You were not only one of my best friends, but you were my inspiration and a role model to live the Christian life. There are so many memories (30 years of memories) I can't even begin to recall them. The one that really comes to mind was when we tricked the guys into going on a Cruise. We made those plans Spring Break 2000. Boy, did we have fun. You have touched so many lives with your love and faith. Thank you so much for being there for me when I was going through some rough times, you were always there for me. i know that I will see you again and I feel your presence all around me. 
One more story....Heather has been drinking her coffee out of the mug you gave her several years ago. You have been by her side for weeks.
