Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM with visitation for family and friends one hour prior according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Mr. Mathis grew up in the Columbus area, graduating from Hallie Turner Private School. He never met a stranger and enjoyed his church life at Rosehill Baptist Church in Columbus. As a devoted man to everything in life, he thoroughly loved his wife, mother, family, friends and Jesus Christ. He taught his children to be truthful and how to love unconditionally. He also enjoyed riddles and jokes and was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.
Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his father, Hollis Mathis. He leaves behind his loving wife, Juanita Brooks Mathis; his mother, Genell R. Mathis; brother, Tony (Tracy) Mathis; sons, Michael “Mike” Hollis Mathis Jr., and Brandon Keith (Crystal) Mathis; seven grandchildren, Shelby Nelms, Aaron Winningham, Ashton Winningham, Trenton Mathis, Nevaeh Pyles, Sara-Blake Wells and Paxton Mathis. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives and friends to cherish his loving memory.
