Imagine its Christmas Eve. Every room is filled with 75 plus people laughing with one another, debating sports teams, and eating fresh baked cornbread. At the center of all the chaos, is MeeMaw. With her loving and giving nature, Mildred, ensured that each of her loved ones had handcrafted presents to open for Christmas. While she didn’t have it all, she knew that together with her family she had everything.
Mildred Railey Hovey directed the Senior Center for the City of Columbus. She was always running around, making crafts, and cooking whenever given the opportunity. Everyone knew that Mildred’s door would always be open with hot food waiting on the table. She had a loving heart that would always sacrifice her wants for those that she loved. No matter the day or time, Mildred was there for you if you needed her.
Alongside her parents, Claudie B. Grantham and Willie Ross Railey, Mildred is preceded in death by her daughter, LaDonna Lynn Hovey Vajda.
