MSG (Ret) Henry I. Fields, Sr.

Graveside services are scheduled at Main Post Cemetery on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 1 p.m. with Reverend Tommy McConnell officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 11 a.m. til 12 noon.

MSG Fields, son of the late Samuel Jackson Fields and Hattie Terrell Fields, was born July 28, 1923 in Lacey Springs, AL. He was Baptist by faith and retired from the U.S. Army where he served honorably for over 23 years. MSG Fields was a veteran of both World War II and the Korea Era Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son, Tye Fields.

MSG Fields is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Bryant Fields of Columbus; one son, Henry I. "Ike" (Gloria) Fields, Jr. of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Nancy Fields of Columbus; four grandchildren, Traci (Dan) Jones, Tim (Katina) Fields, Trey Fields, and Caitlyn Fields; six great-grandchildren; one brother; six half-brothers; other relatives and friends.
