Nancy Elizabeth Smith August 26, 1938- February 6, 2016 Columbus, Georgia- Nancy Elizabeth Smith, 77, of Columbus, Georgia died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Edgewood Hall at Striffler – Hamby, 4071 Macon Road. A private interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born August 26, 1938 in Houston County, Alabama the daughter of the late Howard Thompson and the late Vasteen Taylor Thompson. She had lived in Columbus since 1955 and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty eight years of service. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Billy J. Smith; two sons, Wayne Smith and his wife, Sylvia, and Steve Smith and his wife, Shara; three sisters, Sally Tate, Mary Sullivan, and Inez Cochran; four grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Corey Smith, Elyse Hall, and Michael Smith; six great-grandchildren.
