

Nora M. Tucker, age 93, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, February 7, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Thursday, February 10, 2011, 1 p.m. with Minister Roger Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Tucker, daughter of the late William Nelson McCullar and Allie Bye Alexander McCullar, was born May 16, 1917 in Winston County, AL. She was a homemaker and member of Edgewood Church of Christ. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman H. Tucker, Sr.; two daughters, Bobbie Tucker and Kate Calhoun; two sisters; three brothers; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Ronny) King of Phenix City, AL and Debbie Bennett also of Phenix City, AL; three sons, T.H. (Janice) Tucker of Columbus, William Tucker of Salem, AL, and Wayne (Patty) Tucker of Columbus; three sisters, Christine Hood of Columbus, Louise (Braxton) Ferguson of Columbus, and Jerri Miers also of Columbus; two son-in-laws, Bill Calhoun of West Point, GA and Chris Bennett of Phenix City, AL; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
