

Odessa was born January 14, 1924 in Midville, Georgia. She moved to Columbus at the age of six and was educated in Muscogee County School District, graduating from Jordan Vocational High School. She worked as office manager for Dr. Louis Hazouri for his entire 30-year career. She later served as bookkeeper for her son and grandson for 17 years at Hinton Construction Company Inc. Her expertise was invaluable to the establishment and success of the company. She was also an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook, passing along her many talents to her son and grandchildren.
Odessa was proceeded in death by her parents, James Harvey and Rozine Newsome Hooks and her husband of 50 years, John Jenkins Hinton. She is survived by her sister Margaret Hooks Riley, son Tommy (Cecily), grandson Carson Hinton (Kristin) and their children Emma and John Thomas, granddaughter, Corey Kate Lambert (Justin) and their daughter Carolyon, nephew Edmond W. Riley and niece Nancy Riley.
Visitation will be held at Striffler Hamby of Columbus, Georgia 5:00-7:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 26. Graveside memorial to be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. EST on Friday, January 27, with The Rev. Paul Bucheister and The Rev. Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating.
