“Patsy” or “Ma” as she was known was born on January 7, 1921, daughter of the late Walter and Mary Bessie Parsons. She lived a life devoted to her church and family. Patsy lived as she believed and was happiest when serving others whether by keeping nursery, cooking and taking meals to those in need, watching her grandchildren or great-grandchildren, or visiting friends who were sick. Patsy was a charter member of CrossPointe Church of the Nazarene and has been a vital part of the church throughout her lifetime serving in roles of leadership and servant-hood in the church.
Ma was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who taught her children and grandchildren how to be honest, trustworthy, and respectable. She loved to play games and her favorite was “pretend” which included her actions of transforming her house into pretend forts, campsites. shopping places, and even war zones where dragons were fought, cowboys and Indians came alive, and horses ran through the living room. Sitting Bull and his horse Diablo made frequent visits or “Clean-up on Aisle 4” could be heard when a candlestick became a microphone. Ma told stories and taught lessons through her creativeness. Her family will always cherish those memories.
A favorite past-time for Patsy was cooking and providing nourishment for all she knew. She became “famous” for her pecan pies, homemade biscuits, and banana pudding. Sunday dinners and holidays were spent around Ma’s table where she lovingly served the meals that she prepared from scratch and by her own hands. She believed in feeding people and one could always count on her to have goodies prepared for any occasion.
The example that she lived in front of others is one that upheld her belief and faith in her Heavenly Father. She was a prayer warrior who lived as she believed.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood W. Miller. Her survivors include her sons, Michael W. (Dell) Miller and David G. (Susan) Miller; grandchildren Kara (Patrick) VinZant, Lauren (Jon) Minton, Gregg (Donna) Miller, Sarah (Mark) Amspaugh, and Daniel (Megan) Miller; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
